This News Profile was written on Stephen A. Smith. I chose Smith for this assignment because he has had such an amazing rise to fame as a sports journalist. During his early years, Smith attended historically black university, Winston Salem State after spending a year at the Fashion Institute of Technology. While at WSSU, he played basketball on scholarship, became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., and also wrote an article on why his CURRENT coach should retire. That in itself just shows how authentic, and ballsy he would be as a sports journalist and I believe those two qualities have helped propel him to the top of his profession. That, along with entertaining on-air personality.

Throughout his career, Smith has dipped and dived in almost every form of broadcast media, having made his mark in radio, television, and print media. Smith is currently a talk show host on ESPN and ESPN First Take with Max Kellerman and Molly Qerim. Smith's current net worth sits at about 10 million, which is about 9,968,500 above the median annual pay for his profession, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Not bad for a man who's profession is on a decline.
