LeZion Williamson?

LeBron James can legitimately be the only player going through folks minds when the watching Zion Williamson play. At least those with any common sense would make that comparison! Williamson currently stands at 6'7 and weighs in at about 280 pounds. 280 lbs. of straight muscle, to be clear. On top of all of that size, Williamson tallied in a vertical of 45 inches, breaking Duke's vertical leap record at the combine this past summer. This combination of size and athletic ability makes him a terrible threat for opposing defenders. Especially, since he is accompanied by two of the NBA's top 10 picks next year in RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish. Williamson's ability to play above the rim, Barrett's mature game, and Reddish's deadly jumper could very well take Duke to the NCAA championship to win it all.

Zion Williamson takes off for a dunk during warm ups.

Williamson is currently averaging 20 points per game, shooting 67% from the field. Meanwhile, he's only averaging 16% from 3 point range, only tossing up about 2 3's per game. Therefore, with a 45 inch vertical, you can only imagine how many above the rim highlights Williamson is averaging per game. That should be a stat for Williamson only... maybe Dennis Smith Jr.,too.

Williamson's tendency to find himself neck high above the rim is what reels in all of the LeBron James comparisons. What people don't really pay attention to is Williamson's abilities as a basketball player, and not just an athlete. Williamson shows glimpses of The King through his keen basketball IQ, sharp passing, and his deadly chase-down blocks. It's very early in Williamson's career to be expecting such greatness from him. However, James did get "Chosen 1" tatted on his back at the age of 18, and has more than lived up to all the hype surrounding his name. Will Zion do the same?
