Greek Freak or Super Man?

Last week, Shaquille O’neal phoned into First Take with a VERY shocking statement. Basketball fans all know O’neal as the unstoppable, confident, comedic NBA great who will go down in history as the most dominant basketball player in NBA history. During Shaq’s prime he was 7’1 and 350 pounds & possessed the agility of a ballerina. His combination of God given size and athletic ability made him a very scary sight on the hardwood. Opposing defenders would have to double, and sometimes triple team O’neal in the post because no one man could handle him. Antetokounmpo has shown signs of O’neals dominance this year, as he is putting up MVP numbers and transforming into a human highlight reel, dunking on anyone that stands between he and the rim.

Since his rise to stardom, questions have filled the air about Antetokounmpo’s jumpshot, or lack thereof, questioning whether or not he can be a top 3 basketball player if he can’t score outside of the paint. While, O’neal was able to dominate and carry his teams to finals appearances for multiple years with his dominant inside game, the greek freak will not have the same success until he develops a jumpshot because of the evolution of basketball. There are too many players in the league who can shoot lights out from 30+feet away. At the end of the day, 3’s are worth more than 2’s.
